Full-fledged 4-skills English proficiency
Fun to learn
ORIGINAL TEXT
GLI's biggest selling point is that "even ordinary Japanese elementary school students who are not returnees from abroad can take the Eiken®To be able to acquire authentic 4-skills English proficiency at the level of Level 2".
To this end, GLI has developed original textbooks that promote inquiry-based learning, utilizing the "CLIL" and "immersion" second language acquisition methods.
By focusing on "World Exploration and STEAM" that your child will be interested in and want to explore, we will balance the desire to learn and the four English skills while having fun.
- What is CLIL?
- CLIL stands for "Content and Language Integrated Learning," a method of acquiring a second language by learning other subjects in English. It is a method of acquiring language through the senses by learning arts and crafts, science, social studies, and other subjects by moving hands, looking at diagrams, and using actions and visuals. In short, it is the same way native speakers learn a language. This learning method allows students to learn English in a more enjoyable and practical way than simply learning English.
- What is immersion?
- Immersion is a method of learning a second language without Japanese. Children who learn through immersion understand in phrases. At first, they understand short questions and instructions from the teacher at a rate of 60% to 70%, and gradually they are able to understand longer sentences. The writing action is "Write". The Japanese word "write" does not intervene. If you show them the word "Write" at home and ask, "How do you say this in Japanese? Some parents call us in a panic and say, "My child can't even answer a simple word like this..." However, please note that the characteristics of immersion are not intermediated by Japanese. However, please understand the characteristics of immersion. Verbs and nouns are easy to translate into Japanese, but adjectives and adverbs are difficult. However, if they are asked in English sentences, they can understand the meaning. This is a characteristic of immersion. That way, you will be able to understand in English and return in English.
PRESENTATION
For the presentation, students choose their own theme, conduct research, summarize what they have learned and realized, and present their findings in English.
Toward Global Human Resources
You can grow up.
GLI's definition of a "global human resource" is someone who can be active anywhere in the world. In other words, a person who can make money anywhere in the world.
To work is to "provide value," which means to "solve someone's problems" and to "create products and services" that give form to "what would be nice to have.
We call the ability to demonstrate this ability to solve problems and be creative on a global scale "global skills.
GLOBAL SKILLS
Here are some specific global skills that come naturally through GLI lessons and events.

expressiveness
GLI always provides students with opportunities to output (present) what they feel and realize in English in front of a large audience through lessons and events. These include poster presentations, presentations, and many others. Through these experiences, students can acquire the ability to express what they want to say in English.

Ability to explore and think logically
Rather than having the instructor prepare the entire process leading up to the presentation, children will discover their own interests and concerns, and practice the cycle of "Research → Explore → Summarize → Present". In addition, through textbooks and lessons, children learn how to organize their ideas and express them logically by using a logic tree. Through these independent efforts, they will naturally acquire the ability to "explore" and "think logically.

spirit of challenge
GLI places great emphasis on the use of English, and offers a wide variety of events that allow students to get out of the classroom and test their English skills on a daily basis. For example, we offer "field trips" to Kamakura and Asakusa to interview people from overseas in English, as well as "untested activities" that children can enjoy with excitement and thrill. We always value opportunities to foster a "spirit of challenge" in the midst of fun.

Japanese mind
The "Japanese mind" refers to the unique qualities of Japanese people, such as cooperation, morality, and altruism. The Japanese mentality of "wastefulness," "culture of shame," and "wabi-sabi" cannot be nurtured overnight. Our goal is not to nurture people who look like foreigners, but to nurture "Super Japanese" who have a global perspective and skills, and who value the Japanese spirit.

Enhancement of hands-on learning

A wide variety of events
At GLI, we emphasize experiential learning using English and hold a wide variety of events each month. For example, "Presentation Day" is a time for students to present the results of their daily research. Field Trips" take students out of the classroom to interact directly with people from overseas. All events are not only fun, but are also designed to help students naturally acquire English and global skills, allowing them to experience steady growth just by participating.

Overseas Study Tour
During spring and summer vacations, we offer programs that allow students to actually experience what they have learned in the classroom in the world. To date, our third-grade students have ventured out into the world in Nepal, Bangladesh, the Philippines, England, Hawaii, and many other countries. Through real-world experiences in the world, students are able to broaden their horizons and shape their dreams and aspirations on a global scale.
