Some of you may have heard of CLIL, but today I would like to explain a little more about what it is. Today, I would like to explain a little about CLIL. First of all, CLIL stands for Content and Language Integrated Learning.

Well, this doesn't make any sense at all, does it? LOL.

So, to make it a little easier to visualize, the learning theory is that subjects, themes, and other content-based subjects are the main focus of learning, and English should be used as the target language. In other words, the relationship is that "themes" such as mathematics and history are the main focus, and "English" is the sub focus.

To give a specific example, the idea is not to teach English grammar rules such as be verbs and general verbs, but to learn English as a means to learn topics such as mathematics and history.

Would it be easier to imagine it as "learning math in elementary school in English? The math textbook is written in English, and mathematical formulas are explained in English. However, English grammar is also mentioned here and there.

This is because existing English language learning is grammar oriented, so it is difficult to learn English words such as "This is a pen" or "You don't use this in everyday life, do you? Unlike the inefficient learning of "This is a pen", "CLIL" makes it possible to learn both mathematical formulas and English grammar in the case of example.
