A well-balanced development of the four English language skills

GLI's greatest feature is its unique "CLIL" style textbooks, which allow students to acquire skills while having fun. Beginning students use GLI's inquiry-based textbooks to build a solid foundation of English language skills in all four skills while developing interest in the subject. After that, they will acquire advanced English skills in "High Level Academic English". Both of these textbooks are designed for elementary school students to enjoy while learning.

*"CLIL" is a learning method in which students "learn" other subjects such as math and social studies in English, rather than "learning English itself" as they do in school English.

In the Junior Boarding Course, we create a "tailor-made curriculum" by working backward from the target date of success or advancement to higher education, and considering what kind of experience, how much English ability, and what kind of measures should be taken by that date. The curriculum is designed to help students acquire the necessary skills for success in the future, without them even knowing it. This is the type of higher education offered by GLI.

GLI offers a variety of monthly events that will make you want to use English. Some of the events are set in foreign countries, where students can learn about the world and develop curiosity and inquisitiveness, and deepen their interest in society through many hands-on experiences. Since a wealth of experience and self-expression based on that experience are essential for success at top schools abroad, GLI offers not just events, but many hands-on learning experiences that nurture motivation and ability.

Educational consulting sessions with children and parents are held two to three times a year. In order to be accepted to top overseas schools, it is important not only to have good English and academic skills, but also to have good interview skills and to build relationships with local admissions. This program is designed for the most prestigious overseas boarding schools.
After building a solid foundation in CLIL, students will develop academic-specific 4-skills English language skills. Students will acquire the ability to understand and express themselves at a higher level.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. I would like to apply to a school overseas. Can you introduce me to a school?: GLI is not a study abroad agency and does not provide school referrals. However, we can provide information on quality schools through our alumni and referrals. Please visit the school and determine if it is a good fit for your child.

Q. What do I need to do before I take the exam?: The content of the test varies depending on the country you are taking. We will meet with you once to discuss your future roadmap in detail and give you advice.

Q. Can you translate documents to be submitted to schools for entrance examinations or provide interpretation for inquiries?: Yes, for an extra fee, we can translate and correct transcripts and prepare letters of recommendation.

Q. I am a complete beginner in English.: Yes, it is possible; GLI has textbooks that allow students to learn step-by-step from English beginner to being able to use all four skills at the EIKEN® Level 2. Therefore, even beginners can study abroad.

Q. When should I study abroad?: A: The appropriate time to study abroad depends on the characteristics of your child. However, if you take the entrance exam while your child is still in elementary school, your child's English ability may be taken into consideration. On the other hand, the higher the grade, the higher the English proficiency requirement.
It is also important to know whether you should study abroad after receiving some Japanese education and acquiring Japanese qualities, or whether you should go abroad at an early stage of your education.
