Now, at GLI, following Oahu in the spring, this summerThe Big Island of Nature "Hawaii Island! It is.
The main theme is."To fully experience the wilderness of Hawaii and understand how local Hawaiians cherish nature through the hula!"It is.
A tour full of learning elements, including volcanology at Kilauea Volcano, astronomy with the Subaru Telescope on Mauna Kea, and folklore exploring the hulaIt is.
The star-filled sky, the threat of an active volcano right in front of you, the majesty of the volcanic island's large, rising landforms, and the natural beauty of the Big Island of Hawaii will overwhelm you simply by being there.
What is the meaning and history of the hula that was born in this context, and with what feelings do local Hawaiians carry on the tradition?
This is a tour where children will be able to master the hula and experience the wilderness from which the hula choreography is derived.
Big event is instruction from a hula teacher you would never normally meet.
The opportunity to hear hula instruction and hula passion directly from the hula teacher (kumu) who organizes the Memory Monarch Festival, a large hula competition that attracts more than 10,000 spectators each year.
As was the case with the previous Oahu tour, we were able to go to places we normally would not be able to go and people we normally would not meet.
Below is a picture of the hula teacher, Shohei who will be attending the event, and the hula practice.
Day 2: Kilauea Volcano Crater Walk
On the second day, we went to Kilauea Volcano. It is the most active volcano in the world, although it is now in a lull.
The visitor center is filled with trees, but the gradually hardening lava that fills the land is a different world that cannot be experienced anywhere else in Japan.
We will stroll to the crater area through a bleak landscape that looks like something out of a space movie. I can't wait to see what kind of thoughts will come to the children's minds when they imagine a large volume of bright red, sludgy lava flowing out of the earth from this crater.
Day 3: Star gazing at the foot of Mauna Kea
I will not put it into words. I cannot put it into words. The sky is filled with stars. The Milky Way is clearly visible since it is summer. Words cannot describe it.
I want to somehow convey the thoughts that come to my mind to others in words, but the frustration of not being able to do so makes me regret my inability to express myself. The Hawaiians expressed this starry sky not in words but in hula. You can see a great spectacular show where you can feel such a thing.
See you tomorrow for the sequel. It is raining tonight and we can't go out. Please enjoy the spectacular view of the Big Island of Hawaii with your parents and children on video. It will heal your heart.
For the first time in three years, we will have a summer without worrying about Corona, and I think we have endured it well for three years.
Three years of being almost restricted in behavior, especially during a period of learning when experience is the most important thing for a child. Educators are concerned about the future impact on their physical and mental health.
I hope that this summer they will be able to make up for the three years of inactivity and move around a lot.
