Report on [the Junior High School Characteristic Entrance Examination Experience]!
Hello, this is Iwata from GLI Musashikosugi school.
At GLI Musashi-Kosugi School the other dayHeld "Junior High School Special Entrance Examination Trial SessionI did.
(*This is a scene from the day of the event.)
not yetSpecialty Entrance Examinations"I feel that the term "special entrance examination" itself is not so familiar,A generic name for the Thinking Skills Entrance Examination, Inquiry-based Entrance Examination, Programming Entrance Examination, English Language Skills Entrance Examination, etc.and also known as"New Type of Entrance Examination"It is also called
We have a wide variety of special entrance examinations.
○Active Learning Thinking Skills Entrance Examination
○English Application Examination
The program was focused on
The first half of the event was based on this year's Kaetsu Ariake problem, "What if Doraemon's Secret Tools (Dokodemo Door) were available in everyday life?
Q: How do you use it?
Q: What about rules?
The group worked collaboratively to summarize their thoughts on multiple questions such as the following.
(*There were many more questions and thought-provoking input videos that day, but they were a bonus for participants.)
The students who participated in the event were experiencing difficulties for the first time in assigning roles, summarizing opinions, and making presentations.
Kaetsu Ariake's Trial Session last December
When I went to the "Mere Old Man" to interview the sixth-grade students who were about to take the exam, they were conducting the workshop as if it were a real test, but none of them were able to take notes or use a whiteboard.
Maybe it is because I don't do this on a daily basis, or maybe I didn't know how to use it or what it means to use it.
There were also one or two children in each group (the group consisted of six members) who voiced their opinions.
I don't think I was nervous because I was able to create a fun atmosphere with icebreakers and other activities.
I felt that I had not communicated my thoughts because I thought that if we were of the same opinion, we did not need to talk, or that the leader would summarize.
On the other hand, this experience
Everyone, regardless of age, voiced their opinions as they saw fit.
Also,All the members were wonderful, as the participants' ideas were stimulated by expressing their own opinions.
I also think it was wonderful that all participants were able to use the whiteboard immediately during the discussion to visualize and organize their thoughts.
(*The discussion of opinions was wonderful!)
Although it is something we learn as a matter of course in our daily lessons, I was surprised to find that there are skills that can be utilized even in different environments and situations.
Second half,Challenge yourself with past English exam questions from Caritas Girls', Seigakuin, and Tamagawa Gakuen.I did.
The questions we gave as reference examples on the day of the event.I will show you a sneak peek of just two questions. We encourage you to try it with your children.
If you are interested in the answer... please feel free to contact us on line!
As persistent as it may seem, as stated above,Both the content of the Thinking Skills Examination and the English Entrance Examination questions, these are questions that were actually used in the entrance examinations. It is.
Many children may feel "tired" or "it was hard work" after taking the mock examinations for junior high school entrance examinations, but from the families who participated on the day of the event,
○○He said "I had a good time" when he got home.
XX He was not enthusiastic about it until he went, but he said he was glad to have participated.
XX He said he would like to do it again, although it seems to be difficult for him to understand the problem statement.
I am not sure if my child (early elementary school age) is ready for this kind of event, but we are a little worried. We are a little worried that our child (younger elementary school student) might not be able to attend the event yet, but we would be very grateful if you could invite us again.
We received many positive comments such as
Maybe problems where you have to think for yourself are better suited than memorization.
It will be fun to work on it.
● English seems to be more responsive than the general 4-subject deviation study.
If there are parents who feel that their child could enjoy and do well in such an entrance examination, such as "I think my child could do well in this kind of entrance examination. If you are a parent or guardian who feels that your child would be able to do well in such an entrance examination, why don't you consider taking the junior high school entrance examination with a special entrance examination to strengthen English and thinking skills?
