As a farmer, I had plenty of subjects to write about, and I remember my teacher praising me when I wrote about a cow giving birth.

When the vet stuck his arm in to check, he found that it was a breech baby and the head and legs were upside down. The vet tried to pull his leg out, but his other leg got stuck and he wouldn't come out.

The same can be said for English language skills.

The certification test is certainly a good tool to measure learning outcomes.

 

But what is the meaning of a certification obtained by studying only for the sake of obtaining a certification?

 

Am I the only one who thinks that EIKEN Level 3, where one can assert oneself, is more meaningful than EIKEN Level 2, where one cannot assert oneself?

 

If you have the vocabulary and writing ability of Eiken Level 3, it is sufficient to say what you want to say.

But,The English language skills acquired through deviation-type studies in Japan will never allow you to say what you want to say.

 

This is because exam-type studies do not increase knowledge, and there is no element of training self-assertion.

 

In my last and previous blogs, I wrote about the intensifying university entrance examinations in the Tokyo metropolitan area and the low productivity in Japan.

 

Studying for certification and working for a job are somewhat similar, don't you think?

 

Perhaps certification tests may be advantageous for entrance exams. Work for work may advance internal adjustments.

 

But isn't the real purpose of learning English to connect with the world at large through English, and isn't work to solve clients' problems?

 

As in the composition at the beginning of this article, even if you pass the EIKEN Level 2 test, it does not mean that what you want to talk about will come out of your mouth.

 

Internal coordination for work does not make the customer happy.

 

Wouldn't it be better to have a job that makes customers happy and English skills that allow you to clearly express what you want to say, rather than a job that you don't want to do, such as internal coordination, or English vocabulary that you don't want to memorize?

 

Wouldn't that be better for our customers and our future?

And the same training can help them get through the job search exam. Now, when students are job hunting, they start by finding out what they want to do.

 

It is what is called "self-analysis" (I didn't really understand what this meant at first. How could I have lived for 21 years and have nothing to do? I really wondered. (I understood the meaning of this when I entered the world of education.)

 

The essence of AO entrance examinations and employment examinations are the same. What is important is the reason for applying. It is the reason why you want to study (work) at that department (company).

 

The motive must have a cause.

In other words, what kind of learning activities have you done so far that led you to this motivation?

 

A tacked-on motivation will not prove who you are and what you can do.

 

Proof of this learning activity is important. You can talk about any topic, but you need to be able to speak fluently on the topic and answer the interviewer's questions successfully.

 

But if it's something one loves, one can devote oneself to it, spend a lot of time on it, and eventually be able to develop a flippant theory about it.

Remember when I once wrote a blog about not taking away what you love and letting you immerse yourself in it?

 

Now is the very time when the knowledge and immersion acquired through that immersion are evaluated as an entrance exam.

Top prefectural high schools in rural areas still tell students that they are supposed to go to college through the general entrance examination, and they are not allowed to take the recommendation or AO exam.

 

In addition, many schools have not been able to promote this inquiry-based learning.

 

I am still teaching for the general entrance examination, so I can't prepare for the AO entrance examination.

 

But for the AO entrance examination, there is no preparation or anything; it is just the accumulation of the usual study itself and the output of that accumulation.

 

Of course, the number of applicants is smaller than that of the general entrance examination, but since the number of applicants is also smaller, the AO entrance examination is much easier to pass in terms of the percentage of successful applicants.

 

However, from an essential point of view, I think it is more important to be able to use what you study in your daily life for the entrance examination and to be able to make use of it even after you go out into the world.

 

One of the reasons for the intensification of general entrance examinations is actually that each university has increased its capacity for AO examinations and reduced its capacity for general entrance examinations.

 

Entrance exams for junior high school entrance examinations are also increasing, such as the Thinking Skills Examination, which is similar to the AO examination.

 

Some schools are now accepting students with only one math subject (e.g., Sugamo and Yamawaki).

 

I think this trend will be mirrored in the high school entrance exam next.Why don't you look into the AO entrance examination?
