Parents' workshop (understanding "things are not what they used to be")

Hello, this is Kaburaki, GLI representative.

GLIでは、定期的に生徒保護者向けにParent Study Group."というのを開催しています。

this (something or someone close to the speaker (including the speaker), or ideas expressed by the speaker)「保護者勉強会」の”表の目的”は『最新の教育情報をお伝えすること』ではあるものの、”真の目的”としては

『保護者の方に教育をコーディネート出来る様になって欲しい』

というものです。

The thing is that,学校だけでは将来必要な全てのスキルを提供できなくなっているからです。

This is「学校はダメ」と否定しているのではなく（一部否定したいところはありますが、、）、

今はもう多様化の時代で、人によって様々なスキルが必要となり、それを踏まえて学校として全てをカバーするのが難しくなっています。

For example,「グローバルスキル」がまさにそれです。

今は「グローバル」が当たり前。おそらくあなたのお子様が社会人になる頃には「海外の方と一緒に仕事をする」ことがより一般化してくるかと思います。

where ... is concerned今のうちから「グローバルスキル」を身につけた方が良いと思うのですが、このスキルを養うなら、英語力を磨くこと以外にも、海外の方とチームになり１つのプロジェクトを通じて、いろんな価値観の中で、相手と議論しながら、作り上げていくことで養われていきます。

ただ、「こういうカリキュラムをどの学校でも行なっているか？」と考えるとどうでしょうか？

恐らく「ない」I think.

そして残念なことに、そういう「グローバルスキル」をカリキュラムデザインをしている学校は、私が知る限りありません。

じゃあ「グローバルスキル」をどうするか？となると、やはり「民間のサービス」や「環境」などを”親が見つけ用意してあげること”が必要It is.

だからこそ冒頭にあった『親が教育をコーディネート出来る様になる必要性』があるんです。

そのためには、まず「昔と今は違う」と親が理解し、そして頭を柔軟にして、情報を集める事が大切になってくるわけです。

そうする事で、子供の可能性を広げることになりますし、その努力が将来、子供から感謝されることにも繋がると思います。
