21st Century Education] Parents' preoccupation with their children's future is robbing them of their future! Why don't you nurture "the ability to think and make decisions by yourself"?

What skills do you want your child to acquire?"
What kind of skills do you want your child to develop through education? And what do you want your child to become in the future?
This is the time of major educational reforms,The Purpose of Education."I believe that we should think about the following. First of all, I would like to think about it while keeping in mind the editorial history that the "purpose of education" in society has followed.
In 1979, Harvard sociologist and leading East Asian studies scholar Ezra Vogel wrote in "Japan as Number One: Lessons for America" that Japan was a "total middle class society" with little wage inequality, protected by seniority and lifetime employment, and aiming for long-term profits rather than short-term gains. It was a "total middle class society" with a small wage gap.
A highly qualified bureaucracy was intensely involved in the economy, and the people were highly motivated to learn and had a good reading habit. The Japanese people of that time, who were trying to stand at the top of the world, were aiming for "educational backgrounds.
The emphasis on "academic" education is coming to an end.

The values of the junior baby boomer generation (born between 1971 and 1974) family, which numbered 2.4 million in one grade, were to get even one good score, get into a good university, and get into a good company. It was a time when individuality and judgment were not necessary to work in an organization called "Japan.
With the end of the period of economic growth, the bursting of the bubble economy, and more than 20 years of economic stagnation, there is little left of the common sense of a "total middle class society" in Japan today. Lifetime employment is no longer available, and companies may go out of business at any time. The wage gap has widened and has become a social problem.
As you know, the problem of a declining population and the advent of the age of AI have combined to lead to educational reforms.
The time when "the ability to think and make decisions on one's own" is necessary.
What makes the children's generation most different from their parents' generation is that they must live in an age in which there are no right answers.
One of the most important skills for surviving in an era of rapid change and constantly changing answers is the ability toThe ability to think and make decisions for themselves.Isn't it? I believe that cultivating this ability is the "purpose of education" today (both at school and at home).
My college-age son tells me that his friends are all saying that college is boring. Why?" I asked him, "Because their parents decide everything, don't you think? Because they decide which open campus colleges to go to and take them there."
What I feel while running a tutoring school for more than 20 years is that almost all decisions about children are made by their parents. I believe that there is a desire to "let my child learn what he/she needs to learn ahead of time because we live in an age where the future is unpredictable.
But even for a child in the early elementary school years, whose judgment is (or feels) dim, it is very important to ask, "What do you want to do?" is very important. If children are given a chance to think, they can think for themselves. And by repeating this habit, they will develop the "ability to think for themselves.
When parents deprive their children of decision-making, they end up depriving them not only of the ability to make decisions, but also of the ability to achieve that comes with them. What we do for the best of our intentions is actually depriving our children of the ability to realize their future.
Therefore,First, ask him or her what he or she wants to do. From there, thinking begins to turn and leads to the ability to "ask questions. Because we live in an age when even parents cannot foresee the future, parents should not give instructions, but rather repeat the process of having their children think for themselves, consider the right questions, and take responsibility for the decisions they make on their own.is important, in my opinion.
