Hello, this is Kaburaki, GLI representative.

I'm home,We are in the midst of educational reform. Therefore, starting with this issue of "The Truth About Education and Examinations That You Don't Know〜We will deliver the "-Practical Affairs-" in "3 episodes".

Today as "Episode 1",'The Information Gap is the College Enrollment Gap! Only a Few Know the Connection Between Education Reform and Examinations"We will talk about

Impact of the hyper-intensification of metropolitan area university entrance examinations

Take advantage of the recent educational and examination reforms,People who easily pass the college entrance examinations, which are becoming more difficult year by year.are present.

And it is not just a rote education, because it is not just a rote education, it is a college acceptance program that is also equipping students with skills that will be useful in the future,It is also essential as education.

But those who don't know this are still competing with the old bamboo spears against the ever-intensifying university entrance examinations in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Here are the facts you need to know now in order not to lose in the immediate competition for entrance examinations and in the competition for jobs in the future.

Difficulty in taking university entrance examinations in the Tokyo metropolitan area

In recent years, university entrance examinations in the Tokyo metropolitan area have intensified. The cause is stricter capacity requirements from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

Until then, each university was admitting students far in excess of its capacity. Waseda-Keio, Sophia, gmarch, Nitto-Komassen, and almost all universities that did not have a capacity to admit more students than the maximum number of students were admitting.

As a result, universities with a lower deviation than these universities have significantly less capacity. This is a measure taken by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology to save this.

As a result of stricter capacity requirements (of course), admission to the top universities became very difficult, and the lower-middle-ranked (in terms of deviation) schools returned. The number of applicants increased significantly.

During the bubble era, it was commonplace for universities and faculties to have a ratio of more than 20 times. Although not to that extent, the ratio is now close to 10 times, especially for Nitto-Komasen.

When I say reduced, I mean "reduced."GMARCH"and other signatory faculties are surely more than 10 times larger than the number of signatory faculties.

Entrance exam reform mess spurs difficulty

In addition, the messiness of the entrance examination system reform spurred the intensification of the ratio of applicants to the total number of applicants.

This year's high school seniors, not wanting to be victims of next year's entrance exam reform, are eager to lower their applications and somehow get into college by the end of this year.

As a result, in the 2020 entrance examination, all universities above Nitto-Komasen in the deviation band have decreased the number of applicants, while those below them have greatly increased the number of applicants.

What I want to say is.GMARCH"This means that it has become very difficult to get into universities above and below that level.

It can be said that universities in the Tokyo metropolitan area are generally taking tougher exams. The image of a university with a deviation score of 60 is now 65, and the image of a university with a deviation score of 65 is now 70.

If they differ by more than 5 deviations, that is one more group of universities. This mess will continue until the admissions reform is finalized.

Long ago, when I got into a college that was more than I was capable of.

Until about three years ago, it was very easy to get into universities above Nitto-Komazawa due to the declining birthrate and the acceptance of more students than the maximum number.

In the past few years, however, entrance examinations have intensified as in past competitions.

This is not surprising since the number of applicants was approximately 20% higher than the original capacity.

In other words, the bottom 20% of those who were admitted to Waseda Keio and Sophia a few years ago were originally supposed to be in GMARCH, the bottom 20% of those who were admitted to GMARCH were in Nitto Komasen, and the bottom 20% of those admitted to Nitto Komasen were not admitted to Nitto Komasen.

Would you like to go back to the old days again?

That's not fair!"You might think.

So, I'm going to study hard again and aim for a university with a high deviation score! You are thinking, "I'm going to study hard again and aim for a university with a high deviation score! That may be a good idea.

However, society is no longer looking for deviation scores. These are usable English language skills, programming skills, and problem-solving skills.

This shift from deviation-level education to education that cultivates the abilities demanded by society is the main point of this educational reform, and yet we are going back to our warm beds? Let's drop to a safe level and make sure we get into college! That may be a good idea.

But in a few years it will be easier to get into college again because of the declining birthrate.

How do you perceive the reality that a child with lower academic ability than you is accepted to a university with a higher deviation than you?

In any case, top mid-tier universities are getting harder and harder to get into and it's not easy to get in, and if you compromise and drop your school of choice, you could be a graduate of a university that admits everyone in a few years. Now what will you do?
