Summer Lesson (Term 2) Report!

Hi! My name is Erica from GLI!

We at GLI,Programs based on the CLIL English learning method, which is "Interest x Experience x EnglishWe provide the following services.

This blog was held from August 5 to 8.Summer Lesson (Theme: Sports)"With regard to "What lessons did you offer?" And, "What kind of efforts did you make to get students interested in and absorb English?" I would like to talk about the following.

First of all, on the first day, it is "Nice to meet you! On the first day, many of the students say to each other, "Nice to meet you!self-introductionI started with a "hello" and had them break the ice lightly.

Then about 15 more.Sports WordsWe also learned about the different sports and whether each sport is a team sport, a pair sport, or an individual sport. For example, surfing is an individual sport, table tennis is a pair, and American football is a team sport.

After lunch, we moved to the Ryogoku Sumo Museum to learn about sumo, Japan's national sport. There, we looked at pictures of sumo and learned about the history of sumo. We were lucky enough to run into a sumo wrestler, and the students were excited to take a picture with him. LOL!

On the second day, we will start withStart with a field tripIt was.

We all went to "Komazawa Olympic Park" to watch table tennis and soccer, and also played a game where we threw a ball to measure our speed. The students were asked to write about the sports they saw and experienced there in English according to a worksheet.

Then, after returning to the classroom after lunch, I asked the students to write about their favorite sports, this time in English, according to a worksheet.

Is it because it's a sport I like? They wrote down what they wanted to say on a piece of paper and asked, "How do you say this? They were very proactive and tried their best to write what they wanted to say in English.

Day 3,About the "national sports" of various countriesI learned. For example, England has cricket, China has table tennis, and Brazil has soccer.

Sports that are not so familiar in Japan, such as cricket and archery, were explained in English, and students learned about various sports here as well.

Then, after lunch, we went to "Spor Shinagawa Oimachi" in Oimachi, where we also saw and learned about various sports firsthand. The surfing tour was especially fun for the students.

In addition, we have experienced live archery, basketball, soccer, and handball. And after returning to the classroom,The two groups were also divided into two groups, using the sports they had experienced and learned over the previous three days as ideas for their own original sports. We asked them to think about the following

And on the last dayPresentation Day."It was.

We first decided on roles for team members to practice their presentations on the "original sports" they were asked to come up with on the third day, designing team uniforms, making original rules, and presenting them all in "English".

And then the show.

Parents of the students were invited to come and give an English presentation. This time,Two types of presentations were given. One given by a "team" and one given by an "individual."It is.

First, in "Teams," the students were divided into teams of three. The first team introduced their sport and team members, the second team presented the rules of their team's sport, and the third team presented their team's uniform. Then, afterwards, the parents were invited to actually play the sport they had come up with.

Then, for the "individual" presentations, the students were asked to present the name of their favorite sport, where that sport is played, how many people play it, and a description of the "verbs" used in that sport, such as "kick, throw, block," etc.

All presentations were excellent!

After the presentation is over. The "Awarding Ceremony."As a result, we gave Olympic-style "gold, silver, and bronze" medals to the students who did particularly well and came in first, second, and third place.

Each time a name was called, there was a round of applause, and the time was a mixture of tension and joy.

From the parents after the award ceremony,My own son practiced hard for this day, not only in the classroom, but at home as well."We were very happy to hear that they were so enthusiastic about the project.

We feel that this "Summer Lesson" was also a very meaningful time for our students.Because they are interested, and because they are interested, they are willing to experience it, and they are also willing to absorb a lot of English. That's why you can speak what you want to say in slurred English. The following is a list of the most important factors that will help you to make the most of your time in the future.

I hope to continue to support the growth of many students with such an approach.

Now, for the last "Term3" summer lesson of the year."Twenty-one days."The program will begin with the following Theme. The Relationship Between Animals and Humans."isIf you are interested in reading this report, we hope you will join us.
