GLI Online Lessons – the 5Ws (and one H)

It has been more than a month since the launch of the online lessons of Zoom in GLI. How have you been experiencing it so far?

Today, I would like to talk about the 5W’s (and one H!) of online lessons, same as those you have experienced in GLI.

1. What?

In essence, the online lesson is a lesson that uses a different platform than traditional classroom setting. It uses Internet connection and a device that can connect to the Internet, and ideally, the online lessons aspires to deliver quality lesson same (or more!) than classroom-based lessons. Besides the Internet and a device, it might also need accessories to improve listening and speaking while in the lesson, as well as an application that lets teachers and students interact real-time. 

2. Who?

Anyone who has the following things described above can have lessons. In particular, people who do not have the freedom to go to one place or another because of the time or location benefit more to the online lesson set-up.

3. When?

Anytime. Some online schools are all around the world. As long as you can find a teacher who can teach you, basically the online lesson in essence is 24/7 – as long as both the teacher and the student can connect.

4. Where?

The beauty of online lesson is that the people who are using it can choose where they will do it – just as long as there is stable Internet connection, and the participants can concentrate on the lesson!

5. Why?

There might be a lot of reasons to have online lessons, or to choose them over traditional, lesson-taught lessons. One apparent reason is the restriction in freedom – such as in today’s pandemic condition. However, the pandemic has showed that if there is a will, there is a way, especially for learning! Online lessons, in particular, also help setting up the routine of kids who have not started yet with their school activities.

6. How?

There are many ways to get connected, and GLI we both use Zoom and Skype as our tools to get teachers connected from anywhere in the country or in the world!
