【1/29 残席あり！2月も開催】年少さん〜年長さん向けイベントで、土曜の午前を英語で楽しむ！

こんにちは！GLIスタッフのアズサです。

寒い日が続いていますが、いかがお過ごしでしょうか。

本日は、1月最初の「Daycare（デイケア）」の様子をお届けします！

Daycareは、GLI晴海校で毎月第２・第４土曜日に開催している、年少〜年長さん向けのイベントです。

●ただ単に英語に触れるだけでなく

●毎回テーマを決めて、楽しみながら、英語に興味を持ってもらう

ことを目的としています。

1月のテーマは、武蔵小杉校の小学生対象ウィンタースクールでも大好評だった「ウィンターワンダーランド」です。

1月15日、Daycare テーマは「ウィンターワンダーランド」

Welcoming the year with a very cold breeze, GLI’s Daycare for January started with a blast with the theme of Winter Wonderland!

凍えるような寒さと共に新年を迎えましたが、1月のGLIデイケアは「ウィンターワンダーランド」をテーマに寒さを吹き飛ばす勢いで始まりました！

The attendees of the event did not have time to be in an English environment for a while (and we hoped everyone celebrated with big smiles during Christmas and New Year!), so we had to check again if they still remember the do’s and don’ts inside the classroom.

参加してくれた生徒さんは、ちょっとの間、英語環境に身を置く時間がなかったみたいですね（クリスマスやお正月は、たくさんの笑顔でお祝いの時間を過ごせたのではないでしょうか！）。なので、最初に、「教室の中ですることと、してはいけないこと」を覚えているか、改めて確認しました。

After everyone was back in the English mindset with a big “Yes!”, everyone moved their bodies while counting 1 to 100 (the kids enjoyed moving their arms and legs a lot that they forgot all about counting!). Happy with lots of moving and refreshed with water, everyone went ahead and tried their hands with the puzzle of ABCs.

大きな「Yes! 」の返事とともに英語への心構えが戻ったあとは、1から100までを数えながら体を動かしました。みんな手足を動かすことを楽しみすぎて、数を数えるのをすっかり忘れてしまったほど！たくさん動いて、水を飲んでリフレッシュしたら、ABCパズルに挑戦です。

Everyone made their own pairs of big and small ABCs at first, but after a while it became difficult to find the pairs of the letters… so they formed a team and made a separate line for their teamwork’s hardwork!

最初のうちは大文字と小文字のペアを作ることができていましたが、だんだんとペアの文字を見つけることが難しくなってきて…そこで、チーム結成！手分けして別々のラインを作り、チームワークで難題に臨みました。

And now, on to the topic of the month – Winter Wonderland. In Japan, it is cold during winter but there are more countries that are almost always cold and they are far from Japan! Even kids as young as 5 years old were enthusiastic to find where these places are in the country – and outside Japan.

そして、今月のテーマ…「ウィンターワンダーランド」です。日本では、寒いのは冬の間だけ。ですが、日本から遠く離れたところには、一年を通してほとんどいつも寒い国々がたくさんあります！5歳のみんな、国内はもちろん、日本の外にこんな場所があるんだと、興味津々でした。

We arrived at Scandinavia and saw Norway, Denmark and Sweden – the three countries that have their crosses in their flags – as some of the coldest place in the world! Our daycare kids found it funny that there were real Vikings with their big armors and scary headgears, but also found the animals funny, adorable or scary!

スカンディナヴィアに到着！ノルウェー、デンマーク、スウェーデン（３カ国とも、国旗に十字模様が描かれています）といった、世界で最も寒い国々を訪れます。参加した生徒さんたちは、大きな鎧と恐ろしい兜を身につけたバイキングや、珍しい、可愛い、怖い動物たちを見て楽しみました。

Inspired by the things, people and animals they saw from the three countries, the daycare kids got to work on their craft of bobbing paper cup heads. Almost all of them were scary, and they seem to answer when pressed on top of their heads. Not intending to finish only with scary eyes and mouths, they also added stickers of dinosaurs on their craft to finish them off.

初めて見る珍しいもの、動物や物事に刺激を受けて、紙コップのユラユラおもちゃ作りに取り組みます。おもちゃは怖い見た目で、頭の部分を押すと首を振る作り。目や口を描くだけではなく、恐竜のシールを貼って仕上げです。

Finally, after getting warmed down playing outside in the park for some sunshine, the kids came back to cool down, rest and try their hand to finish their mystery puzzle of the animals of Scandinavia. Were they able to finish it? We will find out next time!

公園で暖かい日差しを浴びたら、教室に戻って少しお休み。スカンディナヴィアにいる動物たちのパズルに挑戦しました。どんな動物が隠れているか、出来上がるまでわかりません。みんな、完成できたかな？それは次回のお楽しみです！
