Gathering at Tokyo Station, the 9-day journey begins with friends from across Japan and around the world.

Summer Camp in Japan (SCJ). In simple terms, it is a global camp where elementary, junior high, and high school students from around the world can experience what it’s like to “share the same pot of rice” together.
Through living together, participants learn about Japanese culture and unique everyday customs in Japan, and ordinary friendships gradually transform into a sense of true camaraderie.
Comrades are not defined by winning or losing, but by caring for one another and helping each other out. In this way, the program aims to help reduce conflict and competition over resources and move toward a more peaceful world.

Through calligraphy, kintsugi, and tea ceremony, you will encounter the values that run through Japanese culture.

In taiko drumming, what matters most is not individual skill, but the alignment of everyone’s breath and heart.

A day to face yourself in the land of Mt. Fuji
On the hike up Mt. Hoei on Mt. Fuji, you encounter both your own smallness and your potential within Japan’s symbolic, majestic nature.

Connecting through sports, becoming true companions
Sports Day is held in a uniquely Japanese undōkai (sports festival) style.

A day in Hakone to experience nature and human wisdom
During a tour of Hakone, you will encounter the harmony between nature—volcanoes, lakes, and mountains—and the transportation systems, culture, and art that people have built over time.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What kind of children will participate?
- SCJ has an almost 50/50 ratio of Japanese and foreign children. This balance creates an environment where children can naturally understand each other's culture.
- What is your age of participation?
- Generally, we target children between the ages of 10 and 18, but please feel free to contact us even if your child is younger than the target age.
- I am concerned about my child's English level.
- Please do not worry. We have Japanese-speaking staff available to assist you if necessary. However, since most activities are conducted in English, please consult with us in advance if you have any concerns.

About us
We at GLI are classified in Japan as an “English conversation school for elementary, junior high, and high school students,” but in reality, we are a global school where students learn through inquiry-based and project-based learning using English. For this reason, students travel overseas to work with local companies, NPOs, and NGOs, while also learning about the culture and society of each place.
In other words, we are a school that develops both skills and mindset with the goal of preparing students to collaborate with peers from around the world in the future.
