My name is Masami Hasegawa, GLI lead mentor/coach.

Starting April 1, we will be working with students through the GLI Online mentoring program.

Here we will provide monthly updates on what coaching is and how we work with children.

From Teaching to Coaching
Did you know that starting this year, the subject of "inquiry" has been officially incorporated into high school classes?
The ability to find and solve problems on one's own" is said to be an ability that only humans can have, and AI cannot have. The process of finding and solving problems is "exploration.
And since it was deliberately introduced as a class in schools, it can be said that the government has seriously started to move in this age of AI.
However, there is naturally no such thing as a curriculum, and school sites are having trouble creating inquiry classes because of what "inquiry" means....

How do you learn to explore?

Inquiry is not taught, nor is it taught.
It is a process where students themselves realize and maximize their own potential through a creative process.

In other words, this is a process that is impossible with teaching.
That's why coaching is needed.

Coaching is a partnership between coach and client in which the client (in this case, the children) maximizes his/her own nucleus' potential in public and private life through a creative process of continuous thought provocation" * ICF reference
