Theme.'Let's give a shout out to the British players and get them excited!'So,Various activities such as learning about the UK, writing letters to the UK team, etc.The company has conducted a

Today.Summer School Report at Musashi Kosugi! and here is an overview of what we did at the event! (*We held this event again with thorough infection control measures in place.)

(*At the beginning of each day, we played a simple English game as an "ice-breaker activity. (The photo shows a game called "Duck Duck Goose," which is like dropping a handkerchief.)

DAY 1: "What kind of country is England?"

Day 1.Tourist attractions and culture in the United Kingdom and the origin of the British flag.I learned about theSimply providing knowledge is not interesting.

So, first of all, to create an atmosphere,I gave him my plane ticket (with seat number) and asked him to sit in my seat.

And,Today we're all traveling to London, the capital of England!"He told them,What? You're really going? !"He was pleased with the ^ ^ ^ Another feature of GLI is that it can provide an authentic simulated experience while in Japan. It is.

A video that explains the sights of London in an easy-to-understand manner for children. We had a look and shared our impressions with everyone.

And a brief about Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, and Queen Elizabeth. The students were given a "fill-in-the-blanks" quiz to solve while researching on the computer together, and then divided into groups to give their speeches.

this (something or someone close to the speaker (including the speaker), or ideas expressed by the speaker)Do your research, give your speech."The first step is to do your own research, with support from the instructor, but also by doing your own research.Easier to get people interested in the theme. It will be.

And,By giving a speech in front of everyone and outputting it, it will be easier to consolidate the knowledge learned.

Nevertheless,The most important thing is for students to enjoy themselves. We were happy to see that all the students were enthusiastic and enjoyed working on the project.

Also,The country of Great Britain was actually originally formed by the union of four kingdoms, and the Union Jack was created by combining the flag designs of the four kingdoms. The students also learned about

Parents were surprised by the knowledge that even the parents did not know! They were surprised (laugh).

After that.Flag Painting ActivityThe first day is over.

DAY 2 "Food in the U.K."

The main focus of the second day wasFood in England."Although we learned about theWhat we did every day at this eventThere are

itInterview with a classmate."It is.

This isExercise in which you answer questions on a worksheet in English while also asking questions of your classmatesIt is.

We changed the questions every day to get them used to more conversation patterns and worked hard to make sure they could answer and ask questions well in writing.

Well,The second day's main activity, "Food in England."Then,First, flashcards about fish and chips, pasties, and other famous British snacks and sweetsI did.

And,The most exciting part of the second day was the use of British currency.Shopping Role Play."It was!

The students took turns playing the roles of shopkeeper and customer, and practiced the British way of greeting people and using the word "please" in sentences.

DAY 3 "Let's support the British team!

The event is already on its third day. Classmates are getting to know each other better and better.

The daily ice-breaker activities (i.e., English games) also accelerated the excitement.

(This game, "Simon Says," was so exciting that there was a rush of people wanting to play the role of the teller.)

The main activity on the third day wasA sporting experience of British origin."andLet's write to the UK team!"andIt was quite a content-rich activity!

You areThe sport originated in England.Did you know that

The first is the "M" in the "M".

Did you come up with that? (Laughs)

Actually, there are several sports that originated in England,."Soccer," "Rugby," "Cricket," and "GolfThese include. (Pictured is Cricket)

Among them are the followingRugby" and "Cricket."Focusing on theWe connected with an authentic English instructor via online (Zoom) to learn about the history of rugby and cricket and how they are played.

Cricket is hardly familiar in Japan, but all the students found it interesting to play because cricket is different from baseball in the way the ball is thrown and hit.

And the other main activity, theLet's write to the UK team!"It is.

In this activity, we wrote letters to the British Olympic team and took video messages of support.

If you ask them to draw a picture of their favorite sport on the letter,Everyone spontaneously drew many pictures of the Union Jack, Big Ben, and other things that would please the British players.

It was wonderful to see all the content that the UK team will definitely appreciate when they see this!

DAY 4: "American and British English" and "Summary

It was the fourth and final day of the summer school.

While there are "main activities" every day,A sub-activity that was very popular with the participants wasGLI Olympics."It was.

This isA game activity in which participants compete to see who can jump the furthest in the long jump and vertical jump indoors. It was.

Each student was assigned the role of the person who records and the person who tries to record, and everyone was asked, "How far did you fly?" Everyone concentrated and enjoyed participating in the game.

At the end of the event, the gold, silver, and bronze medals are handed out as in the Olympics, and the medalists are asked "What's your name? What is your age? What is your favorite sport? What is your favorite sport?

The main theme of the fourth day wasAmerican and British English."In,They learned that just as Japanese has an accent, English has an accent and different words for the same thing.

For example, we learn American English, but in factFor example, "french fries (US) = chips (UK)," "chips (US) = crisps (UK)," and "elevator (US) = lift (UK)" have the same meaning, but the words are different in British English.

This was also made into a game, using the American and British flags and asking, "What do you call this in America?" What do you say in England?" We played the game.

All the students laughed the most,Everyone was amused when I told them that "pants" is called "pants" in the U.S., but "pants" in the U.K. means "underwear. It's interesting to know such things about different cultures, isn't it?

At the end of the four days, we reviewed the vocabulary and activities learned during this summer school, and had a lot of fun and learned a lot.

In addition to this, during the summer school,We went outdoors to visit the area around the training grounds of the British team.(We took a picture in front of the monument.)

Around the stadium, there were Union Jacks everywhere to welcome the British team, and many "GO G.B.! signs were everywhere around the stadium to welcome the British team, so we took a commemorative photo with them in the background.

I would be happy if the "GLI Summer School" would be as memorable as possible for the students, especially since they are on summer vacation but cannot travel due to the Corona disaster,

We will be really happy if through this summer school, you come to like English or become more interested in foreign countries and England ^ ^.

We would like to thank all the participants and their parents for their support!

We hope to continue to provide not only fun, but also a lot of global learning, and we look forward to working with you in the future.
